Ring, Sing and Drink for Trespassing

Laure Prouvost

La Manufacture, Roubaix
26 April - 17 August 2025

Laure Prouvost, who won the Turner Prize in 2013, is taking over the exhibition gallery and machine room at La Manufacture with a monumental immersive installation, combining film, sculpture, tapestries – measuring 15 metres – and language.

Where are we? A lush garden left to its own devices? A forgotten science lab? Verging on a dystopia, we lose our way, crossing boundaries, but continue further, without forgetting the distinction between weaving and tapestry.

The visit ends with a screening of a video work by the artist entitled Into All That Is Here, which explores the notion of lust after periods of darkness. In her film, the artist continues to explore a story linked to her grandfather. She delves into her character’s subconscious, into the depths of his fantasies, just as an insect or a bird is attracted by the pollen of a flower, and when it finds itself there, the flower gives it pleasure…
