The Lille-Dunkirk chapter marks the end of a long journey for the popular giants of Petticoat Government, which began with their participation in the Belgian Pavilion at the 2024 Venice Biennale.
After a stop in Lille at the Gare Saint Sauveur on Saturday 11 October, the Frac Grand Large will present the final version of the film of their journey from 8 November, accompanied by sound pieces by Laszlo Umbreit and Senjan Jansen, and the giant Kutch.
Petticoat Government is a choral work and the image of a collective body initiated by seven people, Sophie Boiron, Valentin Bollaert, Simona Denicolai, Pauline Fockedey, Pierre Huyghebaert, Antoinette Jattiot and Ivo Provoost, who together form this multidisciplinary collective. At the crossroads of art, curatorial practices, architecture, graphic design, typography and cartography, the collective takes a horizontal and collaborative approach to the potential of the Venice Biennale to produce a work whose result can already be found in the experimentation of its method.
