We’ve imagined Fiesta as a major celebration that explores the many facets of music across all artistic disciplines. In a region rich in festive traditions, lille3000 once again wanted to highlight the wealth of amateur musical practice in the Hauts-de-France region, as it has for each of its major seasons, by inviting musicians to take part in the event, with 2 musical creations specially composed for the occasion.
Around Julien Joubert’s La Nuit du Carnaval and Simon Fache’s Sacrée Fiesta!, Fiesta will once again bring together wind bands, artistic teaching establishments, primary and secondary schools, choirs and the dramatic arts.
Since the scores were handed in on 7 September 2024, 350 organisations have been rehearsing to present almost 200 concerts, which will take place throughout the region and in Belgium from 26 April and throughout the event.

La Nuit du Carnaval
by Gaël Lépingle
& Julien Joubert
Musical tale for Fiesta – Creation

For this new themed edition, Julien Joubert has composed La Nuit du Carnaval for children’s choir and wind band. This work tells the story of a Mardi Gras night in 16th-century France. Jean, aged 6, and Eulalie, aged 10, brother and sister, sneak out to join the Carnival crowd. They join other children, learn about carnival traditions and dance to the sound of trumpets, tambourines, oboes and bagpipes.
Julien Joubert is an unclassifiable artist, as much a composer, teacher, pianist and cellist as a performer. His compositions range from symphonic music to cinema, chamber music and ballet. He excels in vocal writing for children, writing over 80 operas for children’s choirs.
Sacrée Fiesta !
by Simon Fache
Composition for harmony Orchestra – Creation

Simon Fache has composed a repertoire for wind band for Fiesta. This two-part work, entitled Sacrée Fiesta! features a concert piece written as a nocturnal stroll in which the party is represented in all its forms from 6pm to dawn. The second part is a street repertoire designed, among other things, for gatherings and to get the public dancing. The strength of Simon Fache’s songwriting lies in his ability to bring audiences together with themes evocative of parties, in a skilful blend of ska, reggae, rock, techno and other styles.
Simon Fache grew up playing with brass bands and marching bands, while studying jazz at the Conservatoire. His curiosity has made him an eclectic musician and composer, writing funk, salsa, orchestral works and metal. Simon divides his time between touring, television and composing. He regularly composes and stages shows with the wind bands to which he remains very attached.
